SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted November 3, 2004 SWR Staff - Executive Share Posted November 3, 2004 (edited) The amendment not allowing gay unions is a state matter, for individual state's constitutions. The president has nothing to do with it unless it reaches a federal executive level - something that the Congress and the states have to ratify to become part of the U.S. Consitution. I don't see that happening ever. Secondly, I don't feel that President Bush is overtly pushing his religious values. He has done very little for the "religious right" and seems to keep a moderate stance. It is only the media that seems to portray him as an extremely religious man - religion is a part of his life. But it doesn't run the presidency any more than other presidents. We certainly won't see the problems like from President Clinton ~ in fact, Clinton references God in more speeches than Bush has. I won't talk on the abortion issue, because that seems to enrage people on both sides.
