Superlaser appearance

Excuse my ignorance, but why is the superlaser a big bolt instead of a beam? HW2 can do beams, as for their ion cannons, so what issues prevent this being used for the superlaser?

I tried for about 10 to 20 minutes to get this bloody super laser to fire and it just wouldn't do it! The sovreign acknowledges the order (special attack 'Z' key) but then will stop 20 degrees or so before it brings the laaser upon it's taget and then nothing happens... I'd like to know how you got it to fire... Thanks in advance to anyone who helps I feel like a dumb-ass

I've only seen it fire once (damn thing takes forever to build) and it didn't fire again. I ordered a Z attack at extremely long range on a shipyard, and it fired the superlaser at close range. It missed, of course. Never got it to fire it again, either. If this *is* the superlaser, it looks like a very fat turbo bolt.

never got it to fire in the one time i played the imperials on this version and frankly i dont realy care (from a bug fixin perspective i do) and im happy with how everythings slowly turning out

I'd just love to use the superlaser to destroy the heart of a rebel fleet with one shot. What Star Defender???

Just be gald the AI doesn't use it agains you, though. Loosing your largest ship due to a superlaser would be rather irritating.
