dodododo Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Hi all! Having issues with Lithunwrap - Once I have the bitmap of my texture (512x512) it refuses to be assigned to the model....this is how I did it...- have model in .3ds loaded in lithunwrap (LU) (tried .x format too)- have texture in .bmp- all file names are under 8 chrs (even with the file type!)- I right click materials on the right and select add- then select the untitled material and click add- select the bmp option and select properties- choose my bmp- select all from the main pull down menu- select materials from the main pull down menu- select my material and the 'assign' button refuses to highlight. I am going batty. (batty - seriously incapable of doing anything) I have followed the tutorial to the letter... and I am certain it's not the problem. my version of LU does not match ( i use 1.3 ) so I'm lost.... thanx! dodododo
Hallo Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 I always have to right-click in the area where the model is displayed and select unhide all before the button will highlight.
the_mask Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 If you have hidden anything, go for unhide all, then: You have to make sure, that the button on the upper right (select by faces), with the triangle on it, is pressed. Then you go to the select menu, choose ’all’ and the faces should all be red now. Then you click on ’Materials’ and go for ’Modify Material’. In that window you click on the name of your material and then on the assign button. The program will ask you, if it should assign the selected faces to that material and after clicking on Ok, you should see a difference in the render window, even if it’s just the black parts of your model, where you haven’t painted the texture by now Btw, only the filename, not the extension, needs to be 8 chars long and Lith 1.3 is what I use as well http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
dodododo Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 still having issues... I will be uber clear... -> If you have hidden anything, go for unhide all, then: nothing is hidden. -> You have to make sure, that the button on the upper right (select by faces), with the triangle on it, is pressed. Then you go to the select menu, choose ’all’ and the faces should all be red now. The triangle is pressed and everything goes red once select all is clicked ->Then you click on ’Materials’ and go for ’Modify Material’. In that window you click on the name of your material and then no problems here, my material is there and I click it so it is selected... -> on the assign button. ah. well that's just it, the assign button is not available to be pressed - I am stunned. LU must have an issue with my .bmp. Although because it is listed in the available materials for modification, it recognises it's a .bmp... very confusing. The only thing that I have differed was the colour template that I used. Would that make such a difference? The .bmp is 512x512, is that too big? should I redo with 128x128 like that of the game? I have also tried to right click the model and then select material and assign that way, however it gives an error stating the material has not been assigned to any group. I try to assign it to a group and can not. Any other thoughts on this problem? (I won't give up! just might use something else for texturing.) dodododo
the_mask Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 ... ummm ... Did you assign the bitmap properly to the material or in other words: if you click on the material's name, does it show your bitmap in the left screen ? 512*512 is fine, I do most of mine in that size and Lith won't care about the colors, so that can't be the problem either. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
dodododo Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 no it doesn't. on the right i have +groups and below +materials with my bmp listed. if i single left click, nothing happens, double left and it brings up properties, single right click shows the menu, of which assign is not available.(I forsee victory with this...)
the_mask Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 and on the propreties, do you see the filename of your texture listed, like "mtrn_c.bmp" under the change button ? http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
MerlinRowan Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Hey, I had this problem too. There is nothing wrong with your bitmap, it's just that your model doesn't have all its UV co-ordinates. Fix it by going to Tools>UV Mapping>..., and pick one of the maps. The Assign button should work now.
dodododo Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 certainly gives progress, thanx. I have the bmp on the model but it is stretched. I will play with it a bit.
Floros Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I have the same problem... My "assign" button does not turn active. I also tried changing my UV mapping (planar, box, etc) but still nothing.
