Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I stumbled across this tuff while I was searching for some images for an avater. Aparently there was a march of Imperials through Cologn at some point. I think (and hope) it was a promotional stunt for a German pay-tv channel, who was airing all of the original movies on TV. Most of the costumes are pretty good looking, though there is one blue-skinned imposter amidst the white armor. No, it's not me. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SgAAAH0Wak4dIAS9p603k0Yj54j4cg7h*XgXK763bjjlXP0Ax9BMJObPM9h8xg7UEF7s*O4PiA3flhUkBr5KJoIrGOiL7SpkqJIMpdtiE8b35jmFEorReQ/marsch01.JPG There seems to be a jedi in the right hand corner of this pic, but I'm not sure why the Imperials are tolerating him. Some of the stormtroopers are a little tall, and I think that the scout trooper on the left is too tall as well. I peronally llike the snowtrooper in the front. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SgDVAoMW8E8dIAS9p603k!C6tNcmIyA0H!Uy*flQknocMr9VQj2ntk9ThzaQNjYO8uujAGHb*0QILMPkjDcWWo5FYf2GIZAHLmiY3r5*w6LKpR19m7Usew/marsch07.JPG You can clearly see the Thrawn imposter here. I'm not impressed with his costume. Very unprofessional . I think I see a royal guard in the right of the picture, though I don't see him in any of the others. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SgDhAoAWLU8dIAS9p603k!vnTdjYeLWRzyg1xFnP13cQz8LBqoaG9cgvmt69OWTZsfyaULNYuxXg!0ELqiKLRvf2ghTLzjv!YvJgBKrNPV2f7lFAU2yrDw/marsch04.JPG They seemed to have a pretty good mix of troopers in thier group. I think the blasters they are holding are a little small, not the E-11s that for sure, but they are most impressive. Well, the officer in the front isn't. He's a general, but wearing a TIE pilot's uniform. *Tsk Tsk*. I think the most impressive thing of all is the 4 meter AT-AT in the background. If any of you were there, let me know if or when htis is on again. I need to kick my geekieness up a notch or two! Sorry about the imagy heavyness, but you just had to see it. There is more explainations about it, and a few more pics here: http://www.e-v-e-n-t-h-o-r-i-z-o-n.com/funny_invasion.php History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Guest Admiral_Antilles Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Wow, quite a cool find there, GAT. I must say I love Star Wars and everything about it, but I would never ever dress up and parde around. However, it is an amusing thing to see. Good Find,
Mad78 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I think getting dressed up like that would be quite fun. I say we all get dressed up as rebels and stormtroopers and play a soccer match. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
ADarkJedi44 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 *Calms Thrawn down* Don't worry, you're just as geeky as them!Yep, nice find. Cool pictures for sure. Mad you're still holding out for that soccer match? Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 25, 2004 Author Posted July 25, 2004 I would want to be one of the stormtroopers, becuase I wouldn't want any one to see my face . We'll have to find a Death Star Soccer ball first Mad History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Trejiuvanat Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I agree with AA here, I don't think I'll ever parade around in a Star Wars costume as it seems to stupid. Just as silly as the Trekkies marching with Vulcan ears, or the sick Frodo-dressed folks that plagued the Premiere of Return of the King. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Lord_La_forge Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Parade is one thing, but arrange your wedding in Star Wars dresses is really disturbing! I've seen some people doing that. Geeks for a lifetime?
Mad78 Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 I advantage with imperial marches is that other people can't see your face which is a kind of advantage. And if the public had to see my face I'd prefer being dressed as an imperial officer than as Spock. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
CP Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 I could(alrighty would) never dress up like that, unless of course it was Halloween which would cussion the Nerd Factor. Don't argue with an idiot, you'll just be brought to his level and be beaten by experience.
Mad78 Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 I guess if you are going to one of those grand meetings of fans it could be okay. Anyway I wouldn't wear it all day. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 27, 2004 Author Posted July 27, 2004 I think I'd be too embarassed to wear that type of thing even at a convention. As if the fact that you're at a Star Wars convention surrounded by people who live, eat, and breath it, you have to dress up as a character from the movie only to be picked apart by them. No thanks! History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
BadSamaritan Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 I only have one thing to say. Those stormtrooper uniforms are uncomfterable as hell. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Mad78 Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 It sunds like you are speaking with some experience. What happened? http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 Looks to me like the plastic-pantie part of it would be very uncomfortable, and I'd imagine the helmet doesn't provide very good vision. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Mad78 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 In the film they appear to offer a very bad vission. But still I have always wanted to try on one of those rebel pilot suits. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Lord_La_forge Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Must be the reason, why the SAS didn't stole the idea of the helmet from GL...
Mad78 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 SAS? http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 Special Air Service, the british special forces. The best in the world, or so I think. They're simialr to the American SEAL Team Six, German GSG-9, and the Canadian JTF 2(rated vary closely with the SAS I might add). The Ausies also have an SAS, which makes it very confusing as to which you are talking about. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Mad78 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I was wondering: Do scout troopers have a better view? Because in Rebellion it seems the Imperial commandos prefer their helmets. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 I'm not sure. The novels make it sound like Stormtroopers have a video feed in their helmets, so they don't look through the "eye" sockets, but see through moniters in the helmets. I think the elongated visor would make for better sight lines though. Pluss it reduces the weight of the helmet. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Mad78 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I doubt they would have a video feed. Each helmet only has a very small power generator which is just sufficient to make the comlink work. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 If you read Survivor's Quest, Fel's stormtroopers have enhanced vision, breathing, hearing, etc. I know they were elite troops, but they were wearing regular stormtrooper armor. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Mad78 Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Interessting... I shall have to look for some info about Stormtrooper helmets one of these days. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
