This thread is designed to be a compilation of what we KNOW FOR SURE about the Post NJO, whether it be characters, plot or whatever. The way I'm going to do it, is present the facts, then where they came from and who said them. Note that the facts are not quoted EXACTLY, but approximately.

CHARACTERS:

Luke, Han and Leia will have a critical role to play, but Jacen and Jaina will definitely not be shoved into the background. - Troy Denning, force.net message boards.

The trilogy will focus on whoever survives TUF - Sue Rostini, TOS boards.

Ben Skywalker will appear - Troy Denning, swendirect interview (http://www.swendirect.com. Its somewhere on the site archives).

There will be at least one new major character - Troy Denning, swendirect interview.

There will be more than one new character - Shelly Shapiro, TOS boards.

The villains have a history with Star Wars and will be "different." - Troy Denning, force.net boards and swendirect interview.

There will be many funerals - Denning, swendirect interview.

The Chiss will factor into the trilogy - Shelly Shapiro, TOS boards.

There will be some explanation of the whole Chak Fel/Soontir only have five kids, not six in the trilogy issue - Shelly Shapiro, TOS boards.

The trilogy will see one (possibly more) of the characters go through the Campbellian Mythology structure: the hero at the end of his/her journey. Additionally, the Mythology sees the hero coming to an understanding that good and evil are two parts of the same system - Denning, swendirect interview.

Leia's Jedi status will be looked at (and hopefully put in concrete, for those who wish to dispute it) - Troy Denning, NJOE interview

Following the events and revelations concerning the Force through the NJO, the Jedi will now be trying to figure out how to deal with this and what they should do. Needless to say, much confusion will abound - Troy Denning, NJOE interview

LOCATION, LOCATION

Zonama Sekot will "sort of" appear - Denning, swendirect interview.

The Unknown Regions will somehow figure into the trilogy - Shelly Shapiro, TOS boards.

TIMELINE

The trilogy will take place five or so years after TUF - Shelly Shapiro, TOS boards.

The trilogy will start approximately five years after TUF - Denning, theforce.net boards.

MISCELLANEOUS

(Note this following quote is EXACT, taken from the Star Wars Myth & Magic Website in a Troy Denning interview held a little while ago, in early March I think):

"SW:MM. With the upcoming trilogy you are working on for post-NJO Star Wars, what are some of the elements you think make for an effective trilogy-long story?

TD. I think the original Star Wars and Lord of the Rings trilogies are very good models. The first "book" introduces the problem, which the heroes more or less resolve. The second book reverses their success, the more disastrously the better. In the third book, the heroes make the supreme sacrifice and prevail. But -- of course -- the very best stories find some way to give this structure an unexpected twist."

There will be new classes of ships - Denning, swendirect interview.

Also note that Denning was asked in his official board on theforce.net (by me!!) whether or not he had to collaborate with any other authors for the trilogy for whatever reason. He said no. So this means he didn't even ask them for advice on certain characters, etc. Hmmmm.

And Denning was also asked something about Jacen's relationship with Danni. While he never gave an specific answer, he said that with Jacen "journeying around the galaxy" and Danni "on Zonama Sekot," there isn't really much they could do together. This suggests that maybe as the trilogy opens, Jacen is still on his quest to find other Force-users and Danni is still living on ZS. Although, Denning could simply be referring to the situation at the end of TUF.

Like the Old and New Republics before it, it seems the Galactic Alliance will also be having a tough time trying to keep their various members together, as well as rebuilding the galaxy - Troy Denning, NJOE interview

That's all I could find at the moment and while there may be more official comments floating around, I can't think of any.

LOGICAL ASSUMPTIONS:

From the above clues we can safely assume the following:

If the Solos and Skywalkers are still running around here, then I'd say we can confirm Mara will appear (DUH!!) even though no mention of her appears anywhere. Same goes for Threepio and Artoo.

Since the Chiss, Fels and Unknown Regions somehow figure into the trilogy, Jag will probably be kissing Jaina in some alley secretly. Or something like that. At the very least, he will have a role in the trilogy.

Lowie and Waroo will most likely appear as they are taking up Chewie's life debt to Han and the Solos.

Tahiri and Danni may or may not appear. ZS is already confirmed to "sort of" appear, but this may simply be in someone's dream/vision or something else. However, Tahiri at least is a fairly main character, so we'll probably see her.

There must be at least SOME mention of how the Yuuzhan Vong are faring. We most likely won't see any of them, but some random character will undoubtedly mention the situation regarding them.

I would assume that Coruscant, Ossus and Denon will have have scenes take place on them.

There will also most likely be plenty of references to various galactic species and communities, organisations, etc and how they have fared/rebuilt since the invasion.

I'd also like a Logical Assumption to be that Tenel Ka, Zekk, Alema and Tesar will show up, but we don't even know for sure if Tahiri, Lowie and Waroo will appear and they're (at this point) more crucial to the story. Having said that, Denning DOES love Barabels so perhaps Tesar will pop up, and Tahirim Lowie and Waroo at least, all have good enough reasons to be in the trilogy.

That's all for now folks, feel free to add stuff whenever you see it.

I don't think you'll find any complaints. The only NJO I didn't like was Dark Journey. Bah. I can't wait until 2005, a new movie and the post NJO

And Zahn's prequel book. :D

TUF was good, but the end seemed the "epilogue" and the ultimate fate of the Vong a bit was precipitated. Also some of the characters were lost for long periods of time, as Luceno had to give each of them a bit of screen time, it's not really a complaint, but the book could have been a bit longer (feature more about the Slayers). I had expected some of the Shimrra affair (Don't wanna spoil it for the ones who haven't read it), and ZS.

I agree Trej, Luceno could have lenghtened TUF but overall he ended a long series well and even through a very special bounty hunter. :) I think in all fairness in was a good book. :D

It was a good book and I though it was about time they ended the series in some way. I think that the end was a little rushed, but they probably placed page restrictions on him. I've never seen a star wars book go over 600 or so pages (except for the Vision of the Future series and I,Jedi). As for Zahns prequal book, I t was alright, and it did provide answers to questions about Outbound Flight. BUt all-in-all, it seemed a little pointless. I also think that it's pretty clear that Thrawn is not back. If he was he would have been spotted in the NJO series, unless he was hiding somewhere. he couldn't have been in Chiss space as, even though he would be a clone, he is exiled.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

I doubt they will continue with another Thrawn clone. Thrawn was one of the best chracters ever and he went out with a bang. That said, they should leave and let him go out on top.

Actually, I think bringing thrawn back would be an interesting idea. You would get to see how he deals with the fact that the galaxy is in no condition to put up a fight against the corperate sector, let alone a hostile species that the chiss havent defeated yet.
I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

I got the impression that the threat the Chiss, and Thrawn in particular, were preparing the New Republic for was the Vong, I doubt that even the CHiss could have fought off two enemies at once.

I would simply like to get more of a look at what Thrawn is like as a person. You really didn't get to the the "real" him in the books.

Well I am sure as all rumors and info lead us to believe is that there will be a lot about the Chiss and Unknown regions in the post-NJO books. To what extent is a mystery and too what characters will appear are unknown, except for main chracters, Luke, Leia, Han, etc. With that all said, I sincerly doubt we will see Thrawn return again.

Hmm what I've read so far says that the Unknown Regions and Chiss will be apart of it, but nothing to imply they'd be the focus. Who knows though 8O

Thrawn returning is unlikely, he's had his fifteen minutes of fame, might as well move on now.

I compleately agree, Darky as I said in a post a few back. Thrawn went out on top and they have no need to bring him back again. I am interested in how they play out the Chiss in the new books. I have always been interested in them.

But what? The Yuuzhan Vong are pretty much taken care of, the Remnant and Galactic Alliance are at a peace and the Chiss stick to themselves.

Maybe Palleon dies and loses control of the Remnant and someone emerges to take his place and begins to take advantage of the undermaned planets.

Remeber that while the Remnant took some hits during the war the New Republic took the brunt of it. It wasn't until the end of the war that the Empire was attacked. If you ask me they are in a pretty good position to take on the GFFA. There may even be some more hidden Imperial ships in the Deep-Core that they could pull out. But if it goes back to the "Rebels vs. Empire" stuff, it might get boring.

I think that Ben may become the focus of some of the stories. Remeber that Anakin was the central figure of some of the novels, as were the twins.
