5 years. Not to mention that the GFFA had doubtlessly been building up and the Imps aren't close to their manufacturing power, devestated or not.

Well they have I would say about 1,000 or so systems still devoted to the Empire, and I am sure the GFFA have undoubtedly given up some of their territory for the Remnants help in the war.

They only have 8 sectors....in their height they had 1,000 sectors. Realisticly can they really take on the GFFA? And would it make a good book?

Well perhaps not head-on but the can switch roles with the GFFA as "the rebellion" but that would be a bit dull. However an allliance with either the Chiss or Vong would be interesting to say the least.

What I read indicated the Chiss wouldn't be a major part, nor would the Vong, but I guess it's possible

I just don't see the Imps somehow rallying to fight again....

Well perhaps we will see a new species that comes from the same galaxy as the Vong or something.

That comes in conflict with the point that they will have a history with star wars....Anyways I severly doubt any other species still live in the Vong galaxy.

Or maybe we will see more of the Fosh species out in the Unknown Regions or something.

I don't know... Maybe Sekot will be taken by the dark side of the Force or maybe the Vong will change him...

The Chiss have been creating a fleet in secret for decades to wage against the Galaxy? So Luke, Leai and the rest must stop them? Or something...

If the Chiss were trying to take over the galaxy I don't think the GFFA would be able to win....but it was said the Chiss wouldn't have a major roll, I think

I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but I've got a feeling that the Remnant has more than just eight systems. That would indicate that they lost a significant number in the war with the Vong. I'm also sure that there were some systems that were moved under the Remnant after the war was over.

As for their ship building abilities, the New Republic was seriously short near the end of the war. Had they been required to fight the Vong head-on in one final battle, they would have been har-pressed to win. At the same time, the Remnant was well defended. At one point in the NJO series there was even mention of and SSD in orbit around Bastion, though nothing ever came of that. I'm sure that they have more than 8 ISDs in thier fleet. AND if the new series if five years after the end of the Vong war, the Imperials would be almost on par with the GFFA for production capabilities. All of thier shipyards were kept in-tact while the GFFA would have to build more, or be stuck with just the ones at Mon Calamari.

In the end I think this may be a pointless direction. I doubt very much that they will bring the Empire back as the primary foe. More likely it will play a more pivitol role in assisting the GFFA.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Lest time i checked, the Remnant had something like 200 Star Destroyers, and 1000 support ships spread across 8 sectors. But Pelleon took most of thet with him when he went to help the NR/Galactic Alliance. They Dont have any SSDs though, the last one they had was the Reaper, and Pelleon lost that ship stopping a NR offensive. The Only SSD i think still exists is the Justice. Unless the Corperate Sector, or some other independent government built one.

The GFFA ship Guardian is an SSD. They have more then 8 systems, but only 8 sectors. Where did you read they had 1,200 combat vessels? Because if they did, I severly doubt the Vong would have been able to rout them that easily when they choose to invade. Anyways I doubt the Remnant will be brought back as a foe

The Vong didnt route them. The Vong attacked Bastion, and caught Pelleon off gaurd, then made a hit and run and Yaga Minor. Other than those two, and that battle where pelleon humiliated that vong commander, thase are the only three battles that i remember wher the vong attacked the Remnent.

And I could have sworn it was the Justice that was the last remainging SSD.

Justice? I don't know, I just checked Destiny's Way and the name isn't mentioned, it's just that SSD where Pellaeon has his garden.

I am almost positive that Darky is correct about this one, Guardian is the name of the SSD.

Yeah it's the SSD Cal Omas stays in while all the other ships fight it out with the Vong. Why the $#$@#$@$%#%$%^$^$%^% do you keep your most powerful ship for someone to stay in? So he can have a good dry cleaning service and little choclates on his pillows?

Well the SSD Guardian is a New Republic ship that kind of serves as a mobile command center. Actually I've never thought there was much sense to using SSDs in combat, they're to easy to defeat with manuever tactics in the books, look how simple it was for Solo to take on the Razor's Kiss and the Iron Fist with his Task Force. Pelleaon also has an SSD, I don't think they've given it a name though.
