The point of this thread is to imagine concepts and perhaps eventually develop a kind of product. As example, I concider myself as a not too bad writer, but I know that this site is full of potential. All the people we need to develop a kind of sequel to Rebellion can be found here.But first we must find the concepts. I thought that we could look like Rebellion with better graphics and tactical interface(which makes strategies easier to put together) and of course a better AI. And of course many different races. It's going to be hard but we can do it. What I thin kwe could do is do it by spaeciality. Of course, playing the Chiss, Hapans, Ssi-Ruuk or Vong would be fun, but having them as non-playable would be sufficient; the more playable races, the more complicated it gets.The problem with Reb now is that Imps and Rebs are too balanced. we need to have different gameplay for either side, and a good AI that behaves as the actual faction would. Remember, more is not necessarily better. ADarkJedi44 Posted May 31, 2004 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Experiance would be a great idea for sure. Many playable races would be nice, but if you could get two good playable sides it would be fine. It should probably consist of perhaps two diffrent time zones to play in (Imperial remnant and Vong invasion?)and there should probably be some fleets and shipyards the player starts with rather than building everything by yourself. There have been some other attempts to create some program that could be easily modded back into SW. There was IIRC one opensource project that you guys might be interested in. Or simply take recruiting missions out all together. I have played the cardgame by decipher too and it's kind of annoying that you can 'deploy Commander Luke only on Hoth". Also you might have to considder that it might make the game a little predictable if you knew that Luke starts out on say Tatooine and if you knew he was going to be 'the chosen one'. Maybe it would be fun if different characters could become 'the chosen one'? Â I used to love playing a game called Covert Action because evertime you played it it rearranged the characters and their role a little bit. Maybe you could keep certain things constant, like senator palpatine plotting his coupe and leaving other things more open, allowing the characters to develop more during the game, rather then sticking too much to the storyline of the movie. Let Page be Vaders son for a change and Leia his sister or let Leia be the hero from the original trilogy. What if she had discovered her talent before? Would she have been trained and maybe faced Vader herself? What if Anakin hadn't been turned to the dark side? Â One of the most interesting aspects about Rebellion is probably the characters, their actions, and how they are developed during the game. Give him the option if he wants to play on a 'SW Galaxy' where planet locations and starting characters are fixed, or a random galaxy where anything could happen. Also I said that characters should have a fixed time FROM when they are available, I said nothing about a specific place or an exact time when they appear. To add some randomness some characters should be available for both sides and simply 'decide' to join you based on your Gameplay (or, which is easier to make, random variables). Recruiting missions could be made less important or completely replaced by this. I'm doing it again; Mind if we all change to the Rebellion 2 Forum for this? I might even not go to college next year and join this project instead. If we can find a couple of more people 'crazy enough' to jump in we might actually get something going. Maybe you should change the title of the thread to like:  "Who is willing to committ himself to making our own version of rebellion II, and how do you think you can contribute?" I think the fact 'that we can do it' is pretty obvious. Â We could let the characters with 'shipdesign-ability' offer discounts for the cost/time of the design. In fact, why not just give characters a skill in science and allow them to be committ that science value to whatever project the player finds more important, right now. Just go to their site, do a word-find and look under character. Every card comes with a biography, picture and gives an idea of what they are good at according to official star wars lore.
