BadSamaritan Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Ok, i have been playing the same game of SWR for almost two years now. I am playing as the rebels, on hardest difficulty, largest galaxy. Im not one for editing the game, so i basically started out at a severe disaddvantage, but managed to hold on long enough to secure some major footholds. But aftyer a while, the imperials managed top push me out of the core sectors, and now i am forced to use nothing but the outer sectors. The imperials have all the core sectors, are are defeending them with extreme predjudice. the problem is, every time i launch an assault, i end up having to scramble to take back planets they are taking. in the end, i take back all of my planets, and i lose all the ones i tried to take. I have lucked out so far when it comes to death stars, having blown up all the ones thay have built. And i have Vader captured. But the emperor is never on coruscant, and with the fleet they have sitting there, taking it would use up way to many of my resources. So, should i just give up on this game, and start a new one, or does somebody here have any good ideas for me? I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. ADarkJedi44 Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 First of all, Welcome to the site! So you've been pushed out of the core completly? How many rim planets do you control? How many shipyards? etc... I would recommed making sure the Empire is completly out of the rim while building up large resources and fleets. Getting a good fleet, combing a sector and bombarding everything, then running usually works. Including some sabotage on your runs would allow you to blow up civillian facilities while gaining popularity. After a few runs, the sectors would be all near uprising. Eventually you could grind the Empire to dust. Main points: Make sure the Empire has no foothold in the rim and control ever more rim planets and use hit and run tactics. BadSamaritan Posted May 22, 2004 Author Share Posted May 22, 2004 I control almost all of the worlds in the outer sectors. The few i dont have arent worth having. I have tried thehit and run tactics, but to due a lack of resources, it ended up being to costly in the long run, especially when my hit and runs turned into hit and get annihilated. I do run a lot of sabatoge missions though, mostly on their shipyards to slow them down a bit. I think half my problem is the fact that the outer sector worlds dont have the resouces the core worlds have. Because of this, i am being forced to be very carefull with my fleets. Thankfully, the imp fleets seem to jump in, take a planet, then retreat, so i dont lose anything taking planets back. Although on a side note, i made a copy of my game, and did manage to take curuscant in the copy. It cost me way to much though. I am beginning to severly hate the SSD. I once knew a great man. ADarkJedi44 Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 If you concentrated your WHOLE fleet and just decimated planet after planet in one sector then retreated you'd eventually get a sector or two into an uprising. BadSamaritan Posted May 24, 2004 Author Share Posted May 24, 2004 Well, after an eight hour session, I think its time to give up. My largest fleet got ground into dust, and I lost my headquarters. I think its game over for me now. Although this was definetly the most challenging game i have ever played. On a side note, i just started a new game, and managed to beat the game in 100 days flat. I lucked out with my starting ships as the rebellion, and managed to catch vader, the emperor, and curuscant with their pants down. Kind of annoying, considering how long my last game lasted.
