Hello everyone. I'm glad to see this game is still alive and well - I still enjoy it :) I've just barely started playing around with RebEd, and one of the things I wanted to do was to beef up the Empire (I always play as the Rebels). I was looking for some advice on how to make the Empire tougher, without going overboard.

Also, and I guess this part is subjective, but battles (to me) always seem to drag on and on at first, with the ships moving very slowly for the most part. I've never used the tactics like "The Hammer" and "The Anvil" and such - are these worth exploring? Mostly what I do is just have my ships pick a target and blast away. Not very exciting, I guess. Is there something I'm missing?

Welcome back to the forums :D

I always hate arbitrarily changing things on ships like the number for fighter squadrons they carry. But one thing you can do to make them stronger right off is reduce the cost and maintenance on each of their units by 25% or so. Another is to reduce the research needed for them to get new units.

In the tactical game you never want to choose anvil or hammer as the rebels. Your ships have most of their turbolasers on the sides and so it's better to left hook or right hook. And yes it does make a difference. Often times too it will cause the enamy fleet to have to swing around to get at you while you're already pounding on a single ship on his flank with the firepower of your whole fleet. Also using your nav points is really helpful when you need to pull a ship out of the battle.

 UaintJak Welcome to our home from my part also :) Enjoy your stay.

 About ships ...hmmmm... for ex when I was experimenting with the Patrol Dred. from the Protectorate .....I saw that if you hit a ship in the back you damage his engines ...... or in front the weapons....up the shields ...etc.
