Yet one more team to fall mercilessly against Brazil. In 2002 Costa Rica lost 5-2 in the World Cup, in 99 Costa Rica lost 5-0 against them, so far we haven't played with them yet. (But we will in the Copa América in June, probably one more win for the verdeamarehlas.

But let's face it even if they're overblown and arrogant football players, they are the best. People like Ronaldihno Gaúcho, Kaka, Ronaldo (even if he didn't play against Hungary), Roberto Carlos, Cafú, Dida -And the list goes on-. Are among the best players in the world, and Hungary, well, it hasn't been a team that's been going to many competitions lately. When people talk about Hungary they tend to remember the Hungarian team from the 50s, but where has Hungary been in the past decade?

That's exatly the point Dude. The hungarian football is at all time low. It's simply horrible. There are of course some brilliant hungarian players in foreign teams, yet our national team is always crappy. It goes this way since ages. The 50's "golden team" still lives as a legend in the country. Most of the people here are real football freaks. And in schools also, it's the most popular sport among the kids. Funny that most of our people still think that football is somehow part of our national identity, yet we didn't produce any efforts in this sport for ages now. Somehow, football stays the favourite for most average hungarian men. I can't tell why, since we do play fantasticly in other sports (like water polo, hockey and so on..).

It's kind of the same here, football is like a religion, everybody plays it, watches it, most of the sports section in the newspapers is devoted to it. But Costa Rican footbal hasn't reached anything, two worldcups and two(three) olympics, where they've left without anyone noticing.

Sure sometimes we've done some great deeds, (the only team to ever beat Mexico in their stadium in a qualificatory match), but our administrative organization all of a sudden decide to buy a Mercedes Benz SLK Kompressor '02 instead of encouraging footbal schools, etc....

Costa Rica produces a lot of competent and able people in other sports. Claudia Poll has won Olympic Gold in 96, we have a 15year old kid that beats 60 year old Ukranians in Chess, we have a young man who made above-average time in cycling competions in Spain/Portugal, they don't get as much importance as they should.

If my knowledge of football is correct I think Hungary were the first team to beat England at Wembley.... Anyway, simply shrugg your sholders at loosing to Brazil, La_Forge; they are the world champions, again...

Don't worry about me Jahled, this topic was only a joke, as hungarian football is. Could be, that you will stone me for that, but I'm not a football fan at all....
