Triskozko Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 I hate it when my enemy bombards energy slots off my systems! It just takes all the fun away and ruins a perfectly good planet, I mean isnt it enough that all the facilities on the system are wiped, does it have to turn the system into trash? Does it only destroy energy on general bombardment? Oh, how exactly do the bombardment numbers add up? Is each bombardment modifier added and pitted against the gencore strength? Like does it take 20 TIE Bombers (2 bombardment modifier each) to match a GenCore level one (shield strength 40)
Cain Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 just give 10 to bombardament defence to all buildings and you will fix this problem - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
StarlightCoast Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 One escort carrier with 6 bombers and an ADMIRAL on board is enuf to blast thru a gencore 1 with 1 shot. As far as energy destroying also known as sun crushing some people feel that in war anything goes. With no energy left on the planet it is a planet your opponent can not use in their fight against you. There is a certain logic to this tactic but as for myself I'm a counterpuncher. If it is done to me I will retaliate but most of the multiplayers I play do not use this tactic. Play For Fun......Play To Win......Play With Honor
Triskozko Posted April 17, 2004 Author Posted April 17, 2004 does it take 20 TIE Bombers (2 bombardment modifier each) to match a GenCore level one (shield strength 40) So if the bombardment modifiers and the shield's strength doesn't add up like that how does it work I've been searching a while but have'nt gotten it clear... Is it something like the total bombardment modifiers in the fleet times 4 equals the affective bombardment strength to the GenCores shield strength? Does that mean a TIE Bomber is as strong at bombarding as an Imperial Destroyer because they both have a rating of 2?
Jahled Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 One of the outstanding errors of the game...energy in general, which is why my games these days are in High-priority sectors throughout the galaxy; none of that two energy slot system crap... Believe it or not in the real universe, once you get to Pluto you are still only 1/72,000th of the edge of even our own solor system. Now that leaves a great deal of exploitable planetary resources... so i've always been slightly perplexed by the 'general bombardment,' chain of effect on available system energy. Even Alderaan would have been a goldmine of system resources following it's destruction... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Ragnar Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Even Alderaan would have been a goldmine of system resources following it's destruction... Considering the fact that the current science is that a planet like earth has a core of 86% Iron, I'd say the term "goldmine" is an understatement. By all rights, the Deathstar is actually a big mining drill. Killing the planet is just a side-effect .
Trejiuvanat Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 And the Sun Crusher works great for opening up new hyperroutes.,... I wonder what Thrawn would have done wiith the Sun Crusher? Open a super hyperroute to all the places he needs to attack. And the World Devastators could have been mobile factories on a planet like Tund, or other desolate places... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif

Tarkin must have had shares in a mining company... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Shadow_of_Thrawn Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 i remembering reading somewhere that that was the original cover story for the DS...i think it was the Jedi Academy Trilogy and thats what they told Qui Xux (or whatever her name was) that the whole thing would only be used to break apart dead worlds for minerals
the_mask Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 You're absolutely right.That was in Volume 1 "Jedi search". http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I think they reference it in one of the 'Rogue Squadron' graphic novels, too. Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy -"As you wish..."-"He's no good to me dead..."-"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."-"Put Captain Solo in the Cargo Hold"-"AaaaaAAaaaaaa!!" Fett's VetteThe Lyrics
