Anyone making new models still?

Hi,

 

Is there anyone out there willing and able to make new models if I suggest them or are you making your own models currently?

 

If so, please reply here, there are a few ship models I would really like to get into the game.

Well, I do release models every now and then. Around X-mas there were 7 to keep you guys busy :wink:

 

I usually just work on replacing any ship, that I have a decent model of. But the order is quite random.

Why don't you tell us, what models you'd want to have and either I or someone else can tell you what I/they have in stock.

to Mask: Hey, just wanted your permission in using some of your models in a MOD. You'll be given full credit for all the ones i use and a link to your site in the readme.txt but just wanted your permission first..

I don't have a problem with that, give it a go :D

 

But remember: some/most models were just converted by me and are from other autors. Their names should all be in the apropriate readme files, so you should give the credit for modelling to those that deserve it and maybe add me for converting them :wink:

If you're not sure about some of them PM me and I can help you out.

 

Also don't forget to post your finished MOD here 8)

I've got 4 unrealsed ones:

1-radiant vii (the popular red ship in the graphic novels)

2-accalamator (the triangular predecessor to the star destroyer in the new movies)

3-Ion Frigate

4-Chiss Bloodfire (a carrier)

 

Any of those the ship you were interested in? I could try to email it to a hotmail or yahoo account.

 

I still can't get the textures to work well in Rebellion (they look great in my 3d editor tho' :D), but they still have color and details without the textures.

 

I was planning to release them along with my TC... which I can't stop fiddling with ;) (or just playing -*ahem*- play testing).

:arrow: NicFyyar I relay need your help .... start thinking about the characters in PII the action starts just before Hoth now. Anyway I remarked all the ships almost all the troops and one defense card.... and also only one imperial character.....the idea is to improve them by quality and design. Also if you want some new characters tell me. Normally we were thinking about the same ones from the first Protectorate.

Chimera, what exactly is your problem with the textures ?

-Converting them to Rebellion's palette ?

-that they sometimes look different in the game ?

-that the game crashes after a tactical battle ?

- ...

luckless, I'd be happy to email you the acclamator or all 4 (with cards). PM me with an email address you want them sent to.

 

The whole pack is .7MB unzipped.

 

Nic - hope you got them!

 

Mask - the problem is that they look great in Lithunwrap, but in rebellion they look messy. It can be hard to see the details on the radiant (like the dish on the back ala the Falcon). And the Acclamator outer shell flickers revealing some inside polygons and just looks ugly. I did get a texture to "work" but it did nothing to prevent the flickering and actually made the image more garbled.

 

:P My only idea I haven't tried is that maybe using 2d shapes rather than 3d shapes to make the model might reduce this, but that would require starting from scratch :P

 

Dunno how coolhand did it...

Well, I already PMed you about the textures, but I wouldn't try to rebuild everything with shapes. If you really want to try that, make something simple, like a cube and see, if that behaves any better.

 

To the RBD II: guys, first of all, assimilation wouldn't work on my avatar. It would be fun to watch the attempt, though. :lol:

As it is, I already have too little time to do all the things like working on Reloaded and real-life issues to be in another team as well. But: if you got questions or need some advice, I'll be always there to offer what I know :D

I still make models. Just PM me with a reasonable request and I'll ship your models out as soon as I get to them. But, I'm not good at textures, so you'd have to do that yourself. :(

Mask yo should work up a texturing tutorial, there's a particular Costa Rican member, that's learning to use 3D Studio and might think about converting some models... :roll: And some pointers would really help. :D

I've thought about that for a long time now, the second, updated version of my model importing tutorial.

Maybe I can make some time during easter and maybe I can finish this other tutorial, that I've started ... ah .... 2 months ago :roll:

 

But I better warn ya, texturing, especially of XWA models can take one or two days alone, if you know what you're doing :wink:

Well the average challenge would consist of trying to bring about 30 different bmps onto a single picture, that your respective model-lod will be linked to. Then you'd drag the "corners" of every sub-object of the model onto the respective areas on the picture. I know I needed a lot of caffein and continuos replaying comedy cds to finish the Alliance fleet carrier. :roll:

 

But for my updated tutorial, I'll start with something easy. I'll pick the same model me and vakundok used, to check his bmpconverter back then. I named it .... the horrible cube 8O

I only used the horrible cube for texturing and a genuine StarWars ship for the modelling part.
