Lord_La_forge Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 I know, I had posted it as news earlier, but I thought we HAVE TO open a topic for this. I was searching for pics for our reloaded project, as I found McQuarrie's page. He was responsible for painting conceptional art for the trilogy. So, he was the first one, who visualized GL's world.. Some INCREDIBLE pictures from his work: This is one of my favourite. Yoda's first version. He looks a bit silly :http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0QAD1AgoTYmearrZsEN!A*bIqBTtOfKweQn6B6cNBQHxy6S!3aa2UVp!Pyqb593e*fTUlwZqixbnJdIuo1HxC2P6AIBMU5V5Yzoz1AgBwWCk/yoda.jpg?dc=4675463121121850807 But THE MOST INTERESTING picture on his site is this one. Stormies wearing shields. There's one stormie with a lightsaber in the front Stromtrooper (?) with lightsaber
ADarkJedi44 Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Wow thats some pretty good art work! Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
Trejiuvanat Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 The concepts for the capital of the Empire were nice too, the depictions of the Palace. Some spaceships too!Stormies with lightsabers, pretty cool! The things that didn't made it into the movies... Just like Lando being a clone and such. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Jahled Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Cool link & subject La_Forge dude! There is similar stuff in the Star Wars Archive, a book concerned chiefly with the models and what not used in the movies. The Executor for example originally had a very limited presance in TESB but apparently when the producers saw the ten foot or so long model kind of salivated and wrote it into the movie that bit longer... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Lord_La_forge Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 Yes it is! Isn't it? I didn't know about the Executor thing. Besides, I didn't know anything about SW's conceptional things, GL's original ideas.Maan, I just love these paintings Another cute thing I found here: Chewbacca v0.1 . Kind of a giant hamster, I would say Drawing of a wookie And Boba Fett's early versions. Could be from Power Rangers tooBoba Fett's helmet
Jahled Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 OK, just in case you wonder; 'The Star Wars Archives' props, costumes, models, and Artwork from Star Wars by Mark Cotta Vaz and Shinji Hata, published by Virgin Books here in the UK... with many of the pictures by McQuirrie... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Lord_La_forge Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 hmmm. I wonder, if it's been ever released here too...You made me curious again, dude.
Trejiuvanat Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 And Boba Fett's early versions. Could be from Power Rangers too Mighty morphin' power Bobas. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif

the_mask Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 How about amazon, Cain ? My behind the magic CDs show most (if not all) of the concept images as well. The early shuttle concepts made it into Rebellion's R&D screen and the backgrounds for Coruscant made some troop and event backgrounds (stormies, dark troopers and informants). Jabba's palace was there as well. There's also a book called "The art of StarWars" with those pictures, but it was pretty expensive, IIRC. I'm just glad, that Yoda didn't stay the blue dwarf, he was earlier. A fresh Kermit-green looks much better on his face and relates better to Frank Oz http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Cain Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 How about amazon, Cain ? You know that tehnicaly I'm still a newbie so be more specific also we don't have any SW books here - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
Lord_La_forge Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 No such works released in our little country. Are there usable CD-Roms with sw art released? You could give some titles, so I can downl... err... buy them on net.
Trejiuvanat Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Amazon ships worldwide, guys. I know that because I buys books/DVDs that I ususally won't find here through amazon. Of course there's always the problem of the credit card. The Behind the Scenes Cd does have some conpects, but the Art of Star Wars would be the one to go after. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Since you speak German, LaForge and since I didn't find the first one on Amazon.com... Texas_Fett Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 And Boba Fett's early versions. Could be from Power Rangers too Mighty morphin' power Bobas. Yeah, laugh it up, y'all. Us Mandalorians will have our revenge. BTW, you have no idea how long it took to convince GL and Mr. McQuarrie to abandon that concept...of course, they didn't go for the Stetson hat and southern drawl, either. You see, the line should have been: "Now hold up thar, Vader...'e ain't worth squat to me if he ain't kickin'". Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy -"As you wish..."-"He's no good to me dead..."-"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."-"Put Captain Solo in the Cargo Hold"-"AaaaaAAaaaaaa!!" Fett's VetteThe Lyrics
Lord_La_forge Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 Whatever you say, my mandalorian friend from Texas Thanks Mask! But I can need that few euros for other things. I think I rather search somebody who has it, and borrow it for a while. I wont give out money for that (yet).
Jahled Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Sadly, it gives me great displeasure to announce I am unable to url link a book on my bookcase to the site, though can only hope such feats of wonder can be achieved with the next 'Windows.' Who knows; and who can say my PC won't be able to wake Trej up in Costa Rica with a cup of tea? Time marches on. Most of us nod as if we're aware of what the hell is going on.... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Who knows; and who can say my PC won't be able to wake Trej up in Costa Rica with a cup of tea? Time marches on. Most of us nod as if we're aware of what the hell is going on.... Trej slowly wakes up to the new sound event of Windows R2. With squinted eyes he stares at the blank screen. "Jahled? Earl Grey, please." All of a sudden the CD Drive open and impossibly a cup of tea appears on it. Iulan whistles and takes a sip of the tea. Not Earl Grey, Jahleds post-modern Windows still resents problem with the svchost.... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 the tray on the drive closes again, just to open once more as a new cup materializes on it. In it is a strange fluid. Trej shrugs and mutters, that he didn't order green leaf tea either, but takes a sip nevertheless... and can't hold himself to drink out the last drop of it, as he expectantly looks at the tray for more of the same. ...on the other side of the planet a furry paw just finished typing 'slurm' on Jahled's pc and an evil snicker can be heard in the background. Texas_Fett Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 We may have inadvertantly stumbled upon a clue as to ZOOT's location and support structure, though. You'll notice that the video is based in the UK... Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy -"As you wish..."-"He's no good to me dead..."-"What if he doesn't survive?
