bunnyeartv Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Using the pic of the Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer at: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/comics/de/eclipse2.jpg where is the firing tip of the superlaser? Is it the bulbous thing on the top front, or the big red rectangle lower down? Inquiring minds and all that "He is as clumsy as he is stupid!"
Shadow_of_Thrawn Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 based soley on the fact that it looks like a gun, i'd say the bulbous thing at the tip is the superlaser...though i'm not sure...plus there was no glowing red thing on either of the death stars...all that said, i have no idea what the red rectangle is then...not least bc i never read those comics
Trejiuvanat Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 It's the bulbous thing at the tip, at least that's what the Essential Guide to Vehicles says. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
bofkentucky Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 A repulsor/tractor array for focusing the superlaser? The Death Stars both had the smaller beams on the outer edge that converged with the Superlaser, what was their purpose? How do I set the laser printer to stun?

At the making of the film, it probably had no purpose other than it looked good. after that, i wouldnt know..
Jahled Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 One thing that has bugged me about our Star Wars mythos as a community at large is our exceptance of stuff in obscure comic pannels. Force.net or what ever it is gives endless amounts of meaningless talk to obscure pannels in the Dark Empire comics as if the artists were some major authority on the SW universe concerning ships etc... the more so meaningless with the debate between what an Eclipse I and an Eclipse II look like! The Dark Empire comics were guilty of red-shifting the Star Wars Universe into the quite simply stupid; though the art was excellent upto Empire's End; the entire story was as reckless as it was careless, and like the original movies, made no sense in the given balance of available firepower. I hope I this post is in the correct place... err.. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Ahh, you know QuiGon's old saying: "there's always a bigger .. err .. gun" To me it seemed just like Palpatine to build yet another and greater weapon, cause had this affinity of solving his problems this way. It's also a sign, that he's completely losing it. The rage had well reached a point, where he couldn't control it anymore, despite of his illusions about it.As for the drawings, I found them rather entertaining, than technically correct and therefore the debates about what tiny spec might represent a new kind of shipclass are a bit overstretched in my eyes http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
