Texas_Fett Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 (edited) I know a thread exists where Jahled or someone found a site with some schweet renderings, and the consensus was that they'd be great additions to the TC, assuming the author's permission was obtained for their use. Well, I stumbled upon this site today, and I thought I'd bring it to y'alls attention. Click on the 'Gallery' tab, then 'Sci-Fi', and then 'Star Wars'. There are some beautiful images here. Enjoy! the_mask Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Mmmm, forgotten I had, about this page. You know, these would look good as ... Thanks man, I already downloaded a few pics. It's just sad, that they focus mainly on Star Trek. But their 3D tutorials are also good http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted February 20, 2004 Author Posted February 20, 2004 You're welcome. Yeah, I was a little disappointed as well, but the ones that they DO have are pretty sweet! As for the tutorials...one little baby step at a time, as far as I'm concerned. the_mask Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Well, when I saw these tuts I just thought, that there might be some use for them later. One thing I've learned on the net, once you see something download it right away, cause it might be gone, the next time you visit the site http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif

the_mask Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 How could I miss this thread ?Great find there, TF Just finished downloading them all, the problem was though, that my automatic downloading tool broke down in the middle of the scenes directory, so I had to click my way through ... Haven't seen them all yet, but Jahled's right http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 20, 2004 Author Posted April 20, 2004 How could I miss this thread ?Great find there, TF Thanks!Well, I could follow precedent set by other members and just PM-you whenever I think there's a topic you need to check out. Just finished downloading them all, the problem was though, that my automatic downloading tool broke down in the middle of the scenes directory, so I had to click my way through ...Oh, you mean like the rest of us have to do? Or at least those of us not tech-savvy enough to use a download manager? Haven't seen them all yet, but Jahled's right Well then, my mission here is done. Jahled Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Wow! Ok, completely off topic, but when I clicked on the email link to inform me that this topic had a reply; it worked!!! First time in...err...since I joined many moons ago... Cool eh? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks!Well, I could follow precedent set by other members and just PM-you whenever I think there's a topic you need to check out. sure, why not ? Or even better, email me. You know how fast I am in that department Oh, you mean like the rest of us have to do? Or at least those of us not tech-savvy enough to use a download manager? Did I meantion, that this one is actually a port of a unix program, that works in DOS and that I've recently written a GUI for it, so I can just drag and drop the links into it ? The reason for choosing this is, that we're not allowed to install anything at the uni, but these things work great without having to be installed Btw, there were some pretty good pics among them, even this General Grievous guy. Also the pic with Mace's hand was quite revealing. Looks like more people have read the script, that Trej found, or that it is actually closer to the actual story of the movie than I thought possible http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 21, 2004 Author Posted April 21, 2004 sure, why not ? Or even better, email me. You know how fast I am in that department Sure! Anything to speed up the process, right? At least it'd go from a bi-monthly viewing to a "once every two weeks" one. wink: Oh, you mean like the rest of us have to do? Or at least those of us not tech-savvy enough to use a download manager? There just isn't a good smiley to get that across. I suppose is close...but not quite. So what you're telling me is that you wrote a program to improve your download manager to where it will work without being installed and all you have to do is 'drag & drop' the url into it, all in the name of expediting your internet browsing and dowloading? Yeah, I can see where the ol' "click on each thumbnail" bit would get a bit frustrating for you. You should offer it as a download on your site. Btw, there were some pretty good pics among them, even this General Grievous guy. Also the pic with Mace's hand was quite revealing. Looks like more people have read the script, that Trej found, or that it is actually closer to the actual story of the movie than I thought possible Well, considering all of the 'official' pics coming out of starwars.com, TFN, and the "Clone Wars" cartoons concerning General Grievous, it's not surprising that he'd be a good bet for an appearance in Episode III. I must have missed the one about Mace's hand though...Then again, George has been rather predictable in the prequels. I mean, Weird Al was able to decipher the script from message board postings enough to write "The Saga Begins" and nail the story. Something like that, only that the download manager is a DOS program and therefore doesn't need to be installed. I though about offering it for download, but it just doesn't fit anywhere on my site and I wouldn't want to create a "Tools" section with just one entry The download manager's called "wget" and if you want to I can email you my GUI. Since the introduction of their hyperspace-pay-and-you-shall-see-two-more-icons system, I almost don't check the site anymore. So I guess he is a fair bet. Wait a minute, Weird Al released "the saga begins" before TPM ?Woa, didn't know that. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 and I might even go as far as "every 14 days", but that would be it You know, it's kinda gotten to the point where you need your own seperate forum or FAQ. You know, something like "Ask the_mask" with sticky topics like, "No, you CAN'T do that without the sourcecode" and stuff. Tempting, but I'm not quite sure when I'd use it. I don't really do that much downloading, especially not to the point where I feel I'm losing a lot of time by doing it. Thanks for the offer though. I may take you up on it sometime. Oh, is he on sw.com ? Since the introduction of their hyperspace-pay-and-you-shall-see-two-more-icons system, I almost don't check the site anymore. So I guess he is a fair bet.Kind of. He's more a 'passing reference' with tantalizing photos of him and hints that you can see more if only you'll subscribe. Yeah...like I've got money for that. Wait a minute, Weird Al released "the saga begins" before TPM ?Woa, didn't know that.Yeah, I read an interview with him in which he stated just how much of a SW geek he really is. He followed the internet discussions about the plot of TPM and strung together what he thought the story would be. He then timed the release of "The Saga Begins" for the week of the movie's opening. Apparantly he caught George's eye, because he clarified a few points for him (like the "bongo"...stupid name, btw). You know, something like "Ask the_mask" with sticky topics like, "No, you CAN'T do that without the sourcecode" and stuff. yeah, I also had thought of that title, but I dunno, if I had time to actually pull it off, or if that many people would read it. However I did read in an interview once, that he sent the lyrics (and possibly the video, too) to George for approval. I guess, that's where GL added, but only if a bongo will be a transport, rather than an musical instrument http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
