SpiderVenom Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Is there any way to get the location of the Alliance HQ from a savegame? I just don't feel like searching for it. Thanks.
Jahled Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Err...dude... that's a very odd request, given most of the game for the Empire is the joy is finding and locating that 'nest of rebel vermin.' Nothing rips a broader smile across my face as much as that capital-ship low rumble of an Imperial Fleet entering the orbit of the Alliance HQ system, without hope... without any chance... without any real defence... Are you sure you want to expell this lovely element of discovery from your game? It's like discovering America... and well... incinerating it... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Dunno, if the country would've been incinerated the hurricanes and tornadoes would have come much sooner and fiercer, because all of the wood would be missing SpiderVenom: why don't you build, say ... 36 probe droids, since the systems usually have about 12 planets. Unleashing them would give you recon data on three systems at a time. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
SpiderVenom Posted February 5, 2004 Author Posted February 5, 2004 Doesn't really matter now - I finally found it. Most fun I've ever had blowing up a planet with a DS. I did the probe droid thing earlier, but with no success. The rebels had virtually no planets with defenses, so they were just moving there base anywhere the moment I showed up. I finally found it just scouring each system with my fleet (1 DS, 2 SSDs, 6 ISD2s, 4 VSD2s, 4 LFs, 2 ICs, ~400 fighters )
Hast1ngs Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 with RebEd, make all the systems in the outer rim colonized. it'll show up right away. however, the rebels will probably move it. but then again, with all the outer rim systems colonized, you'll know which systems the rebs have gained support on.
the_mask Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 See, Jahled was right about the fun in blowing up something Hastings, welcome back The idea is really good. Amazing that after 6 years one can still find new strategies for the game http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Jahled Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Just one other little method of increasing one's chances of finding the Alliance HQ early in the game is when you successfully espionage an alliance system in the inner rim and see the destination of, for example, a construction yard's mine say, to a system in the outer rim. The AI tends to take it's time gertting going out there so there is a very high chance it will be the system with their HQ. However, I tend to play as Hastings suggested these days with a fully colonized galaxy with every sector set on high importance. (you have to manually do Yavins' sector) It's not going to matter that much that you start the game knowing where the HQ is, because on hard the Empire is not going to be able to spare enough ships to take it out at the beginning of the game, or for that matter a coupl of hundred days. If it can it's because you've tweeked the original settings using RebEd. And when you finally can, the HQ will have long gone. However, having just said all that, for any Imperial Commanders who are unsure whether they will be able to hold them selves back and contain their fury and patience knowing where the HQ is at game start, you can always give Alliance HQ's system a couple of Ion cannons... it is hard serving the Emperor so loyaly. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
