Jalmar
Alright, this is gonna sound kinda like a newb question but, has anyone or is anyone made/making a NJO TC? I would LOVE to see one of these and do as much as I can to help, however I kinda suck at editing =p The one major problem I see is the Yuuzhan Vong ships, their "shields" would be very hard to duplicate in this game..but I'd still like to see one! Paul
Personally I'm not into the NJO books at all, I prefer the era of the Empire vs the rebel scum.-Grand Moff Conway
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted January 24, 2004 SWR Staff - Executive Share Posted January 24, 2004 Get the actual images and you're set. Frankly, an NJO TC would be nearly impossible unless you want to draw everything yourself. There are not enough images of Vong ships, characters, etc to make this feasible. Good luck! Chimera
Jalmar... go for it, but don't be afraid to just give us what you end up with, because that is a DAUNTING task you're suggesting. Maybe someone can finish what you began. Fortunately, there are some cards already on this site you could use (evidently someone started at some point...) However the biggest obstacle would be the tactical models. My first goal would be to make a TC where you change the character, ship, fighter, troops and spec ops cards. Then balance it, and then suggest to people they play without the tactical mode. That in itself would be wonderful. By the way, I've got a Danni Quee card as well as several Chiss cards coming in my TC "Thrawn's Betrayal - Awakening the Chiss." I didn't bother using NJO Chiss names, but feel free to change my cards, I don't care My second goal would be to try to model the tactical ships... you'll have to do several, but fortunately the textures could all be a cream color... I suggest using Milkshape, it is the most newbie friendly 3d modeling program I'VE found. LithUnrap is free but difficult. Be forewarned you'll only be able to use Milkshape for free for a month. SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted January 25, 2004 SWR Staff - Executive Share Posted January 25, 2004 The hardest part is the Vong themselves. The fleshy faces of the Yuuzhan Vong are distinguished by several key features, in addition to the scars and tattoos that define their social standing: bluish sacks beneath their eyes, sloping foreheads, and lipless mouths. They were masters of organic technology, using all sorts of lesser creatures to perform highly advanced tasks. Have fun drawing them. BTW, NJO = New Jedi Order.. the multi-book series that starts 25 years after Episode 4. Chimera
The good news is that you have probably 25 book covers you could scan. May be some possibilities there. Bad news is that there are 30 character cards... 4 troop cards... 4 fighter cards.... 6 special op cards... and you'll still need to do at least 5-6 capital ships at a minimum (the rest you could leave as empire/allaince ships and just make available to the NR side.) I'd suggest making the Vong the Rebels, by the way. That way the NR gets Coruscant. (Unless you want to have a different starting point than the books) Droids Rule! Fleshies Drool! Jalmar
Well, this could take a while, but I'll give it my best shot. I'm gonna start with names/stats for ships, and work my way from there. It's a good place to start assuming I can find some information (in addition to what I have). Also, does anyone have a good source of ships that the NR used? I could go through all the books and check but that could take a while. Also, shields and weaponry would be useful as well if you know any place.
Chimera
Dunno about ships. The books focus more on the people, Jedi, Vong, and plot than on hardware. There is an "updated" x-wing, but I think it still looks the same. One thing you could do is allow the NR to build ISDs and VSDs because they have them in the books. The only think I think they'd have to research is the Jedi Torpedo maneuver.... you could make it a researchable x-wing fighter that cost a lot and call it a Jedi Squadron and give it a huge torp ability. SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted January 26, 2004 SWR Staff - Executive Share Posted January 26, 2004 Resources for NJO: http://www.njoe.com/http://www.theforce.net/books/unjoh/http://www1.theforce.net/CUSWE/http://njoproject.skywalkeronline.net/ns/index.shtml As you can tell, I've pretty bias for an NJO game, but until there are enough images produced, I think it will be pretty hard to do.
